The relationship between humankind and the oceans is possibly much older than most of us think. We have been taught that hominids diverged from the primate lineage in a savannah-like habitat, acquiring the upright, bipedal stance and the ability to use tools that characterize them. But this is not the only hypothesis about our origins.
