Prof. Carlos M. Duarte was presented with the 2016 Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky Medal on April 20, 2016, at the General Assembly of the European Geophysical Union in Vienna. The citation rates: “The 2016 Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky Medal is awarded to Carlos M. Duarte for his outstanding contributions to biogeosciences, linking marine communities to global change and element cycling".
