Road to Ocean20 Workshops - Bali (Indonesia), 28th-29th August 2022

19 October, 2022

As part of the Ocean20 event, CORDAP co-organized a workshop in partnership with the United Nations Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) and Indonesia Coral Reef Garden (ICRG) to discuss the current state and future of coral restoration and blue natural capital.

During the two-day workshop "No Coral Reef Left Behind and Blue Natural Capital", Professor Carlos Duarte (Executive Director of CORDAP) presented the value of coral reefs and, more broadly, Blue Natural Capital (BNC), identified as the natural capital found in coastal and marine environments, and the threats that are facing with an encouraging perspective on the actions required to conserve, protect and recover those ecosystems worldwide.

During his presentation, Professor Carlos Duarte stressed that "it is important to celebrate every small and large victories we achieve in terms of ocean recovery to encourage us to pursue our efforts and show the way on how to achieve recovery in other components".
