Champions for Coral Innovation Accelerator Gala

19 June, 2024

The "Champions for Coral Innovation Accelerator Gala" held at the Science Museum in London in June, brought together global leaders in coral conservation. Hosted by G20 The Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP), the event aimed to establish and celebrate partnerships dedicated to securing a safe future for coral reefs worldwide.

At this event, CORDAP and the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to upscale coral restoration education. Professor Carlos Duarte, CEO of CORDAP, underscored the importance of international collaboration, emphasizing that working together across borders and boundaries is crucial for building the necessary capacity across the globe, particularly in regions where local communities rely on coral reefs for their livelihoods. By combining efforts, he noted, we can enhance the effectiveness of coral reef restoration and ensure the long-term sustainability of these critical ecosystems.
