Professor Carlos Duarte took part as a keynote speaker and panelist at a conference held under the Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative and organised by SCMP Live.
As a panelist in the session “Tech for the Tide: Engineering a Resilient Marine Future,” he joined experts in marine biology, coral reef ecology, and marine environmental science to discuss how integrating science, technology, and policy can help build a more resilient and sustainable ocean future.
The discussion underscored the urgent need to address growing threats from climate change, overexploitation, and habitat degradation and emphasized the power of collective action to help turn the tide and secure ocean health for future generations.
