Professor Carlos M. Duarte delivered the opening plenary presentation at Aquaculture Europe 2025, held in Valencia, Spain, from 23–25 September. His keynote set the tone for the conference by highlighting the role of regenerative aquaculture in meeting global sustainability goals.
Duarte emphasized that aquaculture must evolve beyond minimizing harm to actively creating economic, social, cultural, and natural capital. He presented regenerative aquaculture as an essential pathway to accelerate progress toward sustainable development and support thriving ecosystems and coastal communities.
