Professor Carlos M. Duarte delivered a keynote lecture titled “Oceans in Transition: Towards Marine Ecosystem Restoration in the Era of Climate Change” at the SeaWilding 2025 conference, Spain’s largest interdisciplinary conference focused on ocean conservation and restoration.
In his talk, Professor Duarte shared compelling evidence of marine ecosystem resilience and how science-based interventions can reverse decades of degradation. He called for a shift from a narrative of decline to a science of ocean optimism, emphasizing the crucial role of blue carbon ecosystems in achieving global climate goals.
