Biography

My research interests are marine ecology and the storage of carbon in benthic communities.  I am particularly interested in investigating how these are affected by the changing environment. To this end, I aim to locate seagrass meadows in the Red Sea and so improve understanding of how many of these there are, and where they are, and to analyze their rate of carbon uptake.

I hope that I can provide an improved understanding of blue carbon in the Red Sea which will help to inform policy at this pivotal moment in its development for commercial and tourism purposes.
