Biography

Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Lina developed a passion for marine conservation through her experiences in the Red Sea. This interest led her to pursue a career in marine biology and academia. She earned her bachelor's degree from The American University in Cairo, where her thesis focused on utilizing environmental DNA to monitor shark populations in the Red Sea. Beyond her academic research, Lina has been actively involved in marine conservation initiatives through her affiliation with the Red Sea Project, International non-profit organization, with a particular focus on sea turtles. She has now joined the TARJC lab to pursue a Master’s in Marine Science at KAUST, aiming to contribute to research and conservation efforts in the Red Sea and beyond.
