Susann Diercks’ main research interest is in the autoecology of marine benthic calcifiers - especially in the face of global change.
In previous studies she worked with cold water coral species of the Baltic Sea and the Chilean Fjord region, assessing the effects of alternating pH and water temperatures on their physiological performance. In her recent research project she investigates the calcification rates of giant clams species (Tridacna maxima and Tridacna squamosa) in the central Red Sea.
